The End Is Nigh…Let’s Get Started
I’ve been kicking around a few characters and a couple plot lines and trying to find ways to mix and match them into a story since I want each of them to be more complex then they are by themselves.
The world is going to be a fantasy’ish world. Probably no dragons, but some magic. And pirates.
One of the character has a neat little special ability. One of the characters has a fun government conspiracy/fight the power plot line. One of the characters is a wannabe pirate.
But I couldn’t figure out a good reason for them to need to be together or a reason why they would be fighting each other.
Then I decided to try and figure out what kind of neat things could happen with this motley cast. Nothing was speaking to me. So last night, I grabbed a notebook and started brain storming.
Out of nowhere I had an odd idea for the actual physical location of the story. I started putting my notebook away because I was clearly too tired but then I realized that the setting works perfectly with the three characters skills/careers/problems.
So now I have the main part of the climax visualized. I have the starting points for two of the three characters with the plan of introducing the third early in the story in an as yet unknown to be manner.
Now I just need to find a way to connect points A and B to C.
So tonight, I start writing. Seriously. It might just be 100 words, but tonight I start writing this story. Unless, of course, the baby decides to be born this evening.

I actually wrote a few hundred words last night. I started at the end and wrote a nice ugly rough draft of where I want everybody to be at the end. Now I can go back toward the beginning and try to aim everybody in that direction.

Good luck and hopefully the baby will stay put for a day.

Hey Jinxy. Quit rooting for the baby to stay put. We are past 39 weeks and rapidly heading to 40. No more rooting for the baby to stay put.
