I learned something odd about myself tonight. I have been painting my computer room the last couple nights. Last night I rolled a coat of primer on the walls. Tonight I used a brush to get the edges.

When my hand started cramping tonight I realized something fascinating about myself.

I use my right hand when using the roller and my left hand when using the brush. Odd.

For the record, I write with my left hand, shoot baskets and throw with my right. Bat right handed but if I really want to swing for power while playing softball, left handed is the way to go.

What kind of freak am I?

The kind that has a neat trait that belongs in somebody’s story. And you can quote me on that.

That’s pretty cool. I have already tried to do things with my non-dominant hand/foot in sports to make myself a better player. for example, I always tried to pass and shoot with my left foot in soccer and that helped me sometimes. I wasn’t great or anything, but I was ok.

That said, I would not attempt to bat left-handed in softball. That would end in embarrassment and disaster.

I’m not the athletic type, but I’ve swapped my mouse hand over to the left to give my shoulder and wrist a break. For writers, it’s highly recommended. Just remember to swap back every few months.

Does it count if you’re able to give people the finger with either hand?

The first left handed batting I ever tried was in gym class in high school. I wiffed with the first two swings and was starting to get made fun of. Then, I crushed the ball for an easy gym class home run on the third swing and trotted around the bases.

I do the mouse swap several times throughout the day. I don’t even notice which hand I am using anymore.

I think more left handed people have the ability to be more ambidextrous as adults because it is so hard for righties to teach lefties things like how to throw a ball, etc.

Or maybe we are just cooler than the righties.
