Sometimes I'm so blind

by kalbzayn on May 3, 2007

I have at least 20/20 vision, but sometimes I don’t see the obvious.

I have not had much motivation to do any reading/writing…or even arithmetic for most of this year. I have also been getting frequent headaches.

The yearly eye exam came up recently and the eye doctor yelled at me for ignoring my astigmatism.

I lost my glasses about a year and a half ago but was having no trouble seeing so never got them replaced. Of course, a lot of the headaches I started getting at the beginning of this year were probably from eye strain cause by the astigmatism.

The same thing happened to me in college before I got my first pair of glasses. I quit doing homework and going to classes because I just never felt like doing it. I think a lot of it was the stupid astigmatism. Once I got the glasses back then I started reading everything again.

So, I got a new pair of glasses the other day. I already lost them for a week, but found them last night and already feel more interested in reading/writing…and maybe even arithmetic. It’s amazing what a simple little pair of glasses can do even if you have 20/20 vision.

So I assume we’ll be reading your new novel by the end of the year :) . Just kidding. I’m glad your headaches will hopefully go away.

Most of the headaches will go away. I still get allergy ones and I still get headaches when the kids are having a particularly loud day, but at least the reading ones will go away. Those headaches are normally the worst ones anyway.

You’ll be more likely to browse through a serialized graphic novel by then…at least if I can teach myself to draw well enough to keep me happy.

:::shaking my head at you from Toronto:::

Hey Mike, if you write all the time then you can just leave your glasses on day in, day out. ;)

That is pretty much true. Between work (computer programmer) and free time, I’m probably in front of a computer about 12 hours a day. I pretty much just take them off to eat lunch.
